150 Coastal Victories

Some of the beach access victories are not really a benefit to the environment.

Increased access often leads to improper use of the resource and increased traffic to sensitive environments and a disregard for local efforts to protect the beach as a resource.

I have been witness to many members of this surfrider organization damaging the environment by littering, damaging dune grass, urinating and deficating at beaches. All of which have very real and negative impact to the environment.

It is important that members fight for only responsible access and stand firm against the behavior of those who disrespect the environment.

Access and responsibility need to go hand and hand. I wish there were more members of this organization that would speak up to their peers and fellow members and encourage them to be more responsible.
