Dolphin Stampede!

Check out this great video that was sent to us here at Surfrider. It was shot in the Sea of Cortez. Just amazing!

Wow... breathtaking! I was scuba diving off the coast of Lanai about 12 years ago and just as I was dumping my tank on the boat we were surrounded by a pod of about 200 dolphins. They were nosing up to divers and rolling on their sides to look at us: several people even caught rides on dorsal fins (albeit for mere seconds until the water force became too strong to hold on). It was nothing like this though.. it really feels like being in the middle of a stampede except you're not going to get mown down...

Nice - I'm hoping that is a four cycle outboard motor they're using.

Great video! I love it when a pod swims by while I'm surfing. I feel honored that they share their home with those of us sitting in the line up (cheesy, I know!) I recently took a sailing trip up to Catalina and a pod of dolphins surfed our bow for awhile. It was an amazing experience and the dolphins escorting us made it even more memorable.

That was really awesome. I have never seen Dolphins swimming that fast and frantic all at once though. I hope they were OK.

Reminds me of my days in the Navy! When ever we were underway, you could almost always go to the bow and watch any number of dolphins racing with us! Truly a beautiful thing!
